Posting consistently is one of the hardest parts of social media. Autoposting turns a simple spreadsheet into a content calendar that publishes itself.
The basic setup
1. A content calendar in Google Sheets
Create columns for date, time, platform, post idea, image link, caption and status. This is the single place your team plans content.
2. AI-assisted captions
When a row has an idea but no caption, an automation sends the idea to an AI model with your brand tone. The draft caption is written back to the sheet for review.
3. Approval
Add an "Approved" status. Only approved rows are published, so nothing goes out without a human check.
4. Scheduled publishing
A workflow checks the sheet on a schedule and publishes approved posts through the Meta Graph API to your Facebook Page and Instagram business account.
5. Logging
After publishing, the post link and time are written back to the sheet so you have a record.
What you need
- A Facebook Page and an Instagram business or creator account
- A Meta app with the right permissions
- An automation platform such as n8n or Make
- Google Sheets
Tips for better results
- Batch your planning: fill a month of ideas in one session
- Write platform-specific versions, since Instagram and Facebook audiences differ
- Keep images in a shared folder with clear names
Adding auto-replies
Once posting is automated, the next step is replying. Messenger and Instagram DM automations can answer common questions and capture leads from comments and messages.
Common pitfalls
- Expired access tokens stop posting silently, so add an alert
- Image sizes that don't match platform rules get rejected
- Posting too often without engagement can hurt reach
Automation keeps you consistent. Your ideas still make the content good.
